Governor Kim Youngrok Proposes Public-Led Renewable Energy Development
Calls for RE100 Industrial Complex in Jeonnam and Energy Basic Income Model
Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, met with Kim Yongbeom, Chief of Policy at the Presidential Office, on the 20th and proposed key energy policy issues, including the establishment of RE100 industrial complexes and public-led renewable energy development.
Last month, Chief of Policy Kim Yongbeom announced the 'RE100 Industrial Complex Development Plan' and the 'Next-Generation Power Grid Construction Plan,' designating Jeonnam as the central hub.
Accordingly, Governor Kim on this day requested that the RE100 industrial complex be established first in Jeonnam, which is rich in renewable energy resources.
He also proposed an energy basic income model in which public entities take the lead in developing renewable energy projects and return the resulting profits to local residents as income.
