Wins Grand Prize and Popularity Award at SW-Centered University Digital Competition
The "Malbeot" team, consisting of three undergraduate students from the Department of Computer Engineering at Korea University of Technology and Education, won both the Grand Prize and the Popularity Award at the "2025 SW-Centered University Digital Competition," achieving the distinction of winning two awards.
According to KoreaTech on August 13, the online articulation training service "Mal:Beot," developed by students Lee Sangbyeok, Lee Yeongyeong, and Cha Mingyeong, was designed to enable individuals with articulation disorders who require pronunciation correction to receive professional training at an affordable cost.
This service aims to help users regain confidence in communication and contribute to resolving issues of social isolation.
This year's competition saw a total of 1,119 students from SW-Centered Universities participate. After a month-long online preliminary round, the Malbeot team emerged victorious in the finals held at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Seoul on August 12.
The team also secured a spot among the five teams selected for the Popularity Award through real-time online voting, thereby achieving two awards.
Lee Sangbyeok, a fourth-year student, stated, "Although we faced many challenges as we repeated development and testing over a short period, I am happy that we persevered as a team and received this award. I would also like to thank Professor Lee Haeyoon for her guidance."
The Malbeot team's "Mal:Beot" service was previously selected as an outstanding work at the 31st KoreaTech Graduation Research Project Exhibition held in June.

Meanwhile, KoreaTech was selected this year by the Ministry of Science and ICT as a "SW-Centered University" and plans to invest up to 15 billion KRW over the next eight years to accelerate the training of talent in artificial intelligence and software.
