Hansung Cleantech Completes Setup of Pilot Facility for Fluorite Recycling from Industrial Liquid Waste
On August 11, Hansung Cleantech, an industrial water treatment and ultrapure water EPC specialist, announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, EN Water Solution, has completed the setup of a pilot test facility for "fluorite" successfully recycled from high-concentration industrial liquid waste. The company explained that this test equipment is close to mass-production level.
Fluorite is a key material used throughout advanced manufacturing industries such as semiconductors, secondary batteries, and steel, and is attracting attention as a strategic mineral due to global supply chain instability. EN Water Solution has developed a process that separates and refines fluorite by neutralizing the fluoride component in liquid waste with an alkaline agent, and has now succeeded in extracting fluorite with a purity level of 95%. The company plans to secure technology to extract fluorite with a purity of over 97%, which is used in secondary battery processes, and complete pilot testing within this year, with the goal of beginning mass production in 2026.
In addition, "ammonium sulfate," an industrial recycled material that began sales in June this year, is being supplied to domestic chemical companies, and the company plans to continue supplying more than 1,200 tons annually. The company also announced plans to further develop and implement a new business initiative to recycle lithium from secondary battery process wastewater, based on technology completed last year.
