Dobong-gu Launches Nation's First Comprehensive Care Survey for All Children Under 12
Full-Scale Survey of Care Gaps and Needs
Targeting 18,000 Children in Dobong-gu
Dobong-gu in Seoul (District Mayor Oh Unseok) has become the first local government in the country to launch a comprehensive care status survey targeting all children under the age of 12, totaling approximately 18,000 individuals.
This survey will be conducted as a full census, covering all types of child care including daycare centers, kindergartens, elementary schools, and home care, which differs from the existing approach of other local governments that have limited such surveys to vulnerable groups. The district plans to thoroughly assess the overall child care environment in the area, with a particular focus on identifying any care gaps, safety vulnerabilities within homes, and the demand for care services.
The survey targets all children aged 0 to 12 residing in Dobong-gu and will be conducted both online and through home visits until the end of August. Dobong-gu intends to focus on identifying the presence of care gaps, the current status of safety vulnerabilities in homes, and the demand for care-related services. The survey results will be used to improve child care-related policies and to establish a community-based care system.
