In addition, starting in August, SK Telecom will provide customers with an extra 50 gigabytes (GB) of data per month as part of a customer appreciation package. To ensure smooth service, the company has conducted a comprehensive system inspection.
First, SK Telecom has completed capacity upgrades for 5G and LTE base stations at locations nationwide where demand for mobile services is expected to be high this summer, such as airports, train stations, bus terminals, major tourist attractions, and shopping malls. The company has also inspected communication infrastructure at locations expected to attract large numbers of vacationers, including frequently congested sections of highways, beaches, forest resorts, resorts, and camping sites. In addition, preemptive quality management was carried out in the vicinity of major concert venues and event sites where large-scale performances are scheduled.
During the first and second weeks of August, when data usage is expected to peak, SK Telecom plans to strengthen monitoring to provide consistent service.
The company is also enhancing roaming quality management in response to the increase in overseas travelers. SK Telecom expects the number of roaming customers to increase by up to 30% compared to June, and has secured additional capacity in advance for major countries where traffic is expected to be concentrated by coordinating with local carrier partners.
Previously, SK Telecom also carried out network restoration and on-site support activities for disaster victims in areas recently affected by heavy rainfall.
