Kwon Oeul, nominee for Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, stated on the 15th, "I will address gaps in veterans' support by restructuring the compensation system and strengthening support mechanisms for low-income veterans, while also enhancing assistance for their spouses."

View original imageIn his opening remarks at the confirmation hearing before the National Assembly’s Political Affairs Committee that day, Kwon said, "I will deeply embrace President Lee Jaemyung’s governing philosophy that special sacrifices for all deserve special compensation, and I will listen attentively to even the smallest voices of veterans' families."
Kwon also said, "To dispel the saying, 'Three generations suffer if you participate in the independence movement,' I will establish measures to enhance recognition and support for independence patriots and their families. In addition, I will further strengthen the veterans’ healthcare system to ensure a healthy life for national merit recipients, and pursue comprehensive, tailored policies in response to aging."
He further pledged to promote a culture of honoring veterans to foster national unity, including ensuring the smooth execution of events commemorating the 80th anniversary of Liberation this year.
Additionally, he said he would devise measures to ensure fair compensation for conscripted veterans for the time they sacrificed in defense of the nation.
