First Train from 40 Years Ago Transformed into a 'Living Heritage' Exhibition Hall... Busan Transportation Corporation to Hold Special Exhibition
First Public Opening of Registered Urban Heritage Train Interior... Preview Before Permanent Exhibition in September
Special Exhibition for Three Days from the 21st... From 1980s Tickets to Train Components
The first train set, which began operating with the opening of Busan Urban Railway Line 1 in 1985, will return before citizens as a "living history exhibition hall" after 40 years.
On July 14, Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) announced that it will hold a special exhibition at the "Cultural Heritage Train History Exhibition Hall" for three days from July 21 to July 23 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the opening of the urban railway.
In July last year, this train became the first urban railway vehicle to be designated as a "Busan Registered Cultural Heritage."
Busan Transportation Corporation is holding a special exhibition at the "Cultural Heritage Train History Exhibition Hall" to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the opening of the urban railway.

The exhibition is organized into six themes. From Car 1 to Car 5, visitors can see original materials such as 1980s tickets, public service advertisements from different eras, and major components. In Car 4, the passenger compartment cover has been opened so that visitors can directly observe the internal structure, enhancing the immersive experience.
The last car of the exhibition hall features interactive content for visitors. Programs such as a train driver simulator, a driving practice device, train operator uniform experience, and a stamp tour are available, allowing family visitors to participate as well.
Lee Byungjin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, said, "This exhibition is significant as it marks both the first case of an urban railway train being designated as a cultural heritage and the first time an actual train has been opened as an exhibition hall. We will provide this symbolic train as an open cultural space for citizens, making it a hub that connects the past and future of the urban railway."
After the special exhibition, this train will be operated as a permanent exhibition starting in September. Citizens wishing to visit can apply in advance through the Busan Transportation Corporation website until July 16. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
