SH Corporation established the disabled rowing team in April 2019, becoming the first public institution in South Korea to form a workplace sports team for people with disabilities.
The current team consists of six athletes who acquired disabilities during their military service, including former Staff Sergeant Ha Jaeheon, who lost both legs in 2015 due to an anti-personnel mine explosion planted by North Korea in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), and former Staff Sergeant Nam Jihyun, who lost his sight due to a rare disease while serving in the Special Warfare Command. The team has achieved outstanding results, winning 20 gold medals, 13 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals at major competitions last year.
President Hwang encouraged the athletes who were focused on their training and listened to their difficulties and suggestions.
