[Market Focus] LabGenomics Rises on Signs of COVID-19 Resurgence and Strengthened Government Response
LabGenomics is showing strong performance. This is believed to be influenced by the government's strengthened response measures, such as extending the COVID-19 vaccination deadline, following concerns over the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in neighboring countries including China, Hong Kong, and Thailand.
As of 10:22 a.m. on May 30, LabGenomics was trading at 2,870 won, up 6.3% from the previous day.
On this day, Lee Hankyung, the Second Deputy Director-General of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCHQ) and Director-General of Disaster and Safety Management at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, presided over a CDSCHQ meeting at the Central Disaster and Safety Situation Room in the Government Complex Sejong. He stated, "The increasing number of COVID-19 cases in some neighboring countries, such as Hong Kong, China, and Thailand, is concerning," and emphasized, "Taking into account last summer's increase in patient numbers, we will proactively prepare for the possibility of a COVID-19 resurgence this summer."
Lee further added, "We ask all citizens to follow infectious disease prevention guidelines when traveling to countries experiencing outbreaks, and to notify airport quarantine officers if you have any suspicious symptoms upon entry." He also urged, "Please strictly adhere to respiratory infection prevention measures in your daily life, such as handwashing, cough etiquette, and wearing masks."
Previously, the government extended the COVID-19 vaccination deadline for high-risk groups, including those aged 65 and older, from the originally scheduled end date of April 30 to June 30.
