Czech Government Identifies Hacker Group Linked to Chinese Ministry of State Security
"Security Authorities Investigating APT31 Activities," Says Czech Republic
The Czech government has claimed that it was the target of a cyberattack by a Chinese hacker group and has summoned the Chinese ambassador stationed in the country.
According to Bloomberg and other sources on May 28 (local time), the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs identified the hacker group 'APT31', which is linked to China's Ministry of State Security, as being behind the hacking attack that occurred on the ministry's non-classified network.

Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky asserted, "China is interfering in our society through manipulation, propaganda, and cyberattacks," and claimed that the Chinese ambassador was summoned to make it clear that such hostile actions will have serious consequences for bilateral relations.
The European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) immediately issued statements expressing solidarity with the Czech Republic and criticizing China. Last year, the United States, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand also claimed that they had been attacked by hacker groups suspected to be backed by Chinese intelligence agencies, including APT31.
