Hwawoo Law Firm made a surprise recruitment of attorney Heeung Yoon, an expert in corporate advisory and mergers and acquisitions (M&A), on May 1. Yoon will also serve as the head of the Future Strategy Planning Division.
According to Hwawoo on May 7, Yoon has provided M&A advisory services for over 30 years, leading major domestic and international mergers and acquisitions for key companies. He is regarded as a representative "deal maker" in the capital markets industry.
He has led significant M&A transactions, including Lotte Shopping's acquisition of Hi-Mart, Hyundai Motor's acquisition of Shinheung Securities (now Hyundai Motor Securities), and Hanwha Group's acquisitions of Samsung General Chemicals and Samsung Total. He has also attracted industry attention by successfully closing various deals, such as Standard Chartered Bank's acquisition of Cheil Bank, Lotte Shopping's acquisition of Woori Home Shopping, and Lotte Confectionery's acquisition of Guylian.
In addition, he has served as an advisory committee member for numerous public institutions, including the National Pension Service Alternative Investment Committee, the Financial Supervisory Service Self-Regulation Review Committee, the Ministry of Health and Welfare Investment Policy Expert Committee, and as legal counsel to the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning.
