Maintenance of Damaged Pipelines, Correction of Reverse Slopes and Steps

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it has been promoting a sewer pipeline maintenance project in the Banghak-dong and Dobong-dong areas since last year.

The project target area covers a total of 3.2 km of aging sewer pipelines in Banghak 1-dong and Dobong 1-dong.

The district expects that upon completion of this project, risks such as flooding and ground subsidence in this section will be significantly reduced.

Previously, the district began the main construction in May last year. The purpose was to improve hydraulic defects and structural problems of the aging sewer pipelines in the area and to secure drainage capacity.

To ensure smooth progress of the project, the district divided the construction section into two zones (Banghak 1-dong and Dobong 1-dong) and is efficiently carrying out the work.

The main construction tasks include repairing aging and damaged sewer pipelines, and correcting reverse slopes and reverse steps. Completion is targeted for August this year, with a total budget of 8.5 billion KRW.

The current overall construction progress rate is about 81%, with work underway in the Banghak 1-dong section (Banghak-dong 658-35, Banghak-dong 701-44).

Efforts to minimize resident complaints during construction are ongoing. A district official stated, “Since the construction is prolonged, we are preventing overlapping excavations with other agencies through road excavation reviews and reducing inconveniences caused by the construction.”

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “We expect the drainage capacity in the Banghak-dong and Dobong-dong areas to be greatly improved through this sewer pipeline maintenance project,” adding, “Additionally, safety accident prevention work such as road collapse repairs will be carried out together, which is expected to enhance road stability.”
