Supply of Modular Homes to Ensure Greater Comfort for Displaced Residents

Yeongyang County in North Gyeongsang Province has reported that approximately 84 households and 134 residents have been displaced due to a massive wildfire. To expedite the supply of temporary modular housing for these victims, a task force (TF) team has been established and is now operational.

The team is headed by the Chief of Construction Safety and is composed of several sub-teams: △Infrastructure Installation Team (earthwork and foundation construction), △Temporary Modular Housing Installation Team, △Water Supply Facilities Installation Team (installation and connection of pipelines and other water supply facilities), △Sewage Facilities Installation Team (installation of septic tanks, etc.), and △Electricity and Telecommunications Installation Team. The county plans to accelerate the supply of modular homes through prior consultations with relevant departments regarding permits and approvals.

The TF team will create temporary residential villages by utilizing the site of the closed Hwamae Elementary School (36 units) and the Hwamae Regional Center (5 units). The lease agreements for these sites are scheduled to be completed within this week.

At the same time, contracts for the installation of essential infrastructure such as water supply, sewage, electricity, and telecommunications will be pursued to ensure that the displaced residents can settle into a stable environment as soon as possible and that modular homes are provided to the households most in need.

County Governor Oh Dochang stated, "Through a 'one-point supplementary budget' for wildfire recovery support, we have secured funding to supply modular homes at an early stage. We will spare no effort to ensure that the displaced residents can live in a more comfortable environment, even if only slightly improved."
