Toss Donates 240 Million KRW from 'Money Book' Sales to Support Wildfire Recovery
1.2 Billion KRW Each Delivered to Habitat for Humanity Korea and the Salvation Army
Toss announced on the 30th that it will donate 240 million KRW to support victims of the recent large-scale wildfire.
The donation amount is the entire second settlement profit from "The Money Book: A Financial Life Guide for Our Better Living," which Toss published in May last year.
It will deliver 120 million KRW each to Habitat for Humanity Korea, an international nonprofit housing organization, and the Salvation Army. The funds will be used for housing restoration and meal support for the disaster victims.
Habitat for Humanity Korea is an organization specializing in repairing or rebuilding homes completely destroyed at disaster sites and will be deployed to restore homes damaged by the wildfire. The Salvation Army is providing emergency support to disaster victims and wildfire suppression personnel on site.
When publishing the Money Book, Toss promised to use the sales proceeds to help financially marginalized groups. The first settlement profit of 300 million KRW was delivered last November to structurally financially vulnerable groups such as people with borderline intellectual functioning, seniors, and the visually impaired.
Toss is also running the "Gathering Hearts for Wildfire Damage Recovery" campaign to encourage continuous public interest and participation. Users can simply press the "Gather Hearts" button on the campaign page of the Toss application (app), and Toss will donate 100 KRW per person on their behalf.
The campaign's target amount is 200 million KRW. The entire amount will be donated as relief funds to affected residents through the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association. A "Direct Donation" campaign is also being implemented for users who wish to contribute additionally.
