Let's Wash Away the Winter Grime... Dobong-gu Mayor O Eon-seok and Over 1,000 Residents Participate
On the morning of the 28th, a major cleanup was carried out throughout Dobong-gu.
Everyone came together with one heart to wash away the grime accumulated over the winter. About 1,000 residents, along with 14 community service centers, the Dobong-gu Sports Council, Saemaul Undong Dobong Branch, the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Society, and the Autonomous Crime Prevention Unit participated in this large-scale cleanup. Four water cleaning trucks, two dust cleaning trucks, and two street cleaning trucks were also deployed.
On this day, Oh Eon-seok, the mayor of Dobong-gu, rolled up his sleeves and joined the effort. Mayor Oh cleaned alleys and habitual illegal dumping areas throughout the district alongside the volunteers.
He especially put extra effort into cleaning the storm drains. To prevent flooding damage caused by heavy summer rains, he cleaned deep inside the storm drains.
Mayor Oh Eon-seok said, “Seeing everyone cooperate for a pleasant local environment made me realize once again that Dobong-gu is a community moving forward together. Such efforts will accumulate to bring about significant change. We will continue to communicate with residents through ongoing cleaning activities and work together to create a clean Dobong-gu.”
A major cleanup was also conducted on the 27th. Many organizations participated that day as well. The Dobong-gu Small Business Association and Youmust R&D joined in to clean the area around Chang-dong Station. The district also brought in a water spraying truck to work with the participating groups to focus on removing residual calcium chloride from snow removal operations and pigeon droppings.
