On the night of the 19th, the Democratic Party held a party meeting and delegated the decision on whether to pursue the impeachment of Acting Prime Minister Choi to the party leadership. On the previous day, Floor Leader Park Chan-dae stated, "We have decided to initiate impeachment proceedings without further tolerating Acting Prime Minister Choi's constitutional violations."
At the party's Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, Floor Leader Park said, "We respected the Constitutional Court's decision and gave an opportunity to fulfill the duty to uphold the constitution, but Acting Prime Minister Choi ultimately refused," adding, "Those who abandon the duty to uphold the constitution are unqualified as public officials."
