Joint Campaign to Be Held at Ulsan Grand Park on the 27th
Ulsan City will operate a Tuberculosis Prevention Promotion Week for one week from March 23 to March 29 to mark the 15th Tuberculosis Prevention Day (March 24).
Tuberculosis Prevention Day was established in 2011, and since then, various events such as commemorative ceremonies have been held every year to raise awareness about the seriousness of tuberculosis and the importance of prevention and management.
The city has also held a variety of events over the years and, starting with the "Community Tuberculosis Project Council" meeting on March 17, will carry out campaigns, preventive education, and mobile screenings.
On March 27, a joint campaign will be held at the main gate plaza of Ulsan Grand Park, with the participation of Ulsan City, district and county health centers, the Korean National Tuberculosis Association Ulsan-Gyeongnam Branch, and the Ulsan Infectious Disease Management Support Group. The campaign will promote the dangers of tuberculosis and prevention guidelines to citizens, and mobile screenings using a screening bus will also be provided.
In addition, five private-public partnership (PPM) medical institutions in Ulsan (Ulsan University Hospital, Donggang Hospital, Ulsan Hospital, Jungang Hospital, Joonsamjeong Hospital) will conduct campaigns for patients and caregivers within the hospitals. Public health centers will also simultaneously carry out campaigns, preventive education, and mobile screenings in cooperation with public institutions, schools, and welfare facilities, with a total of 48 institutions participating in tuberculosis prevention promotion.

A city official stated, "Tuberculosis ranks second in incidence and fifth in mortality among OECD countries, and it remains one of the major infectious diseases in Korea. In particular, the proportion of patients aged 65 and older continues to increase, so we strongly encourage seniors to receive tuberculosis screenings at least once a year."
Ulsan City will operate Tuberculosis Prevention Awareness Week from March 23 to 29.
