View original imageAt the meeting, Planning and Policy Officer Ahn Young-sun and President Heo Hee-young had an in-depth discussion about the roles of local governments and universities in the upcoming AI era, and promised that the city and the university would actively cooperate and strive together to foster the AI industry and nurture talent in Goyang Special City.
The city is actively seeking ways to utilize AI in the public sector, accelerating AI-based administrative innovation in areas such as administration, welfare, and disaster management.
Korea Aerospace University is the only specialized university in Korea focusing on aviation and aerospace, providing customized educational programs in promising future industries such as aviation technology and aviation services.
In particular, AI technology is closely related to aviation and aerospace technology. The AI Convergence College, established in 2022, combines AI technology with various fields such as aerospace, engineering, management, and digital content, striving to cultivate convergent talents needed for future industries.
Accordingly, the city confirmed a shared goal of "nurturing talent for the AI industry" with Korea Aerospace University and plans to maximize synergy effects through mutual exchange and cooperation.
A Goyang Special City official stated, “Linkage and cooperation with universities in the jurisdiction are essential for creating an AI ecosystem in the future,” and added, “Starting with Korea Aerospace University, a specialized university in the aerospace field, we plan to continue linkage and cooperation with Nonghyup University, a specialized university in agriculture, Dongguk University Biomed Campus, a specialized university in the bio field, and Joongbu University, which is responsible for the media and broadcasting field as a recent education development special zone.”
