View original imageThe 44th National Bamboo Design Craft Competition (hereinafter referred to as the Bamboo Design Craft Competition) will be held in Damyang, the hometown of bamboo.
The Bamboo Design Craft Competition is a prestigious contest that has been held every year without interruption for 43 years since 1982. It is hosted and organized by Damyang County and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The competition focuses on creative crafts made primarily from bamboo, incorporating modern trends and design, such as tourism souvenirs, daily accessories, interior goods, and office supplies. It is divided into two categories: the Convergence category (general division) and the Practical Design category (university student division). Any Korean citizen interested in bamboo crafts is eligible to participate.
For the Convergence category (general division), applicants must submit one application form, one work description, and the actual work. For the Practical Design category (university student division), applicants must submit one application form, one work description, and one JPG file and one PDF file of the work.
The submission period is four days, from April 17 to 22, and entries must be submitted to the Damyang County Office Public Facilities Project Office. A total of 52 prizes will be awarded, with certificates and a total prize money of 28.6 million KRW. The winning works will be exhibited at the Korea Bamboo Museum Gallery from May 2, the start date of the Damyang Bamboo Festival, until August 31.
