Dongdaemun-gu Supports Improvement of Work Environments in Garment Sewing and Jewelry Industries
Support of up to 9 million KRW per company for five major manufacturing sectors
Clothing sewing, machinery and metal, printing, jewelry, and handmade shoes
Applications accepted from March 20 to April 17
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Ilpyeong Lee) is stepping up support to improve the working environment of small and aging manufacturing companies.
The district will provide essential safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire detectors, circuit breakers, and wiring boxes to create a safe working environment. In addition, a total of 35 items including air conditioners, ducts, circulating boilers, and LED lighting aimed at improving working conditions and efficiency will also be supported.
The support targets manufacturing companies in clothing sewing, machinery and metal, printing, jewelry, and handmade shoes sectors with fewer than 10 regular employees located within the district. Supported companies must maintain their business for three years after receiving support and be capable of follow-up management.
Priority selection will be given to ▲new applicants ▲workplaces in basements or semi-basements with poor ventilation ▲companies with dust, illumination, noise, or electrical safety below average standards ▲and companies with long operating periods.
Selected companies can receive support of up to 9 million KRW by covering 10% of the total cost themselves.
Ilpyeong Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “We hope for active participation from new companies that have not yet received support, and we will do our best to ensure that workers in small manufacturing companies such as clothing sewing can work in a safe and comfortable environment.”
The application period is from March 20 to April 17. Company representatives can visit the Dongdaemun-gu Economic Promotion Division or the Dongdaemun-gu Fashion Sewing Support Center (19 Dapsimni-ro 38-gil, Startup Support Center Building A, 1st floor). Detailed information can be found on the district’s website under ‘Notices and Announcements.’
