and Seoul Metro officials attend opening ceremony on the 17th
Seoul Metro Corporation (President Baek Ho) announced that the escalator installation and entrance expansion work at Exit 6 of Gasan Digital Complex Station on Subway Line 7 has been completed, and full operation will begin on March 17.
The opening ceremony was attended by Kim Seong-jun, Vice Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council Transportation Committee, Ko Hee-gyu, Head of Technology Division at Seoul Metro Corporation, and other company officials.
Gasan Digital Complex Station on Line 7 is a transfer station with Line 1 (operated by Korea Railroad Corporation), serving approximately 76,000 daily boarding and alighting passengers and about 26,000 transfer passengers. It is the most congested station on Line 7. This is due to the concentration of office facilities in the nearby Gasan Digital Complex and various commercial outlets, resulting in particularly high congestion during rush hours.
To improve congestion at Gasan Digital Complex Station, the corporation has been carrying out various improvement projects, including the installation of escalators and expansion work at Exit 6. In June 2023, Exit 8 was newly opened, and by September 2025, Exit 9 will be expanded with two additional escalators installed.
For Exit 6, construction began in December 2022, expanding the existing 1.8m-wide stairs and installing two two-person escalators. With the completion of this project, the corporation expects improved convenience for citizens using the nearby commercial and office districts, contributing to the alleviation of congestion at Gasan Digital Complex Station.
