KOSPI Gains Over 1% Intraday on Foreign and Institutional Dual Buying Spree
The KOSPI index is showing intraday strength, supported by buying from foreigners and institutions.
As of 10:39 AM on the 17th, the KOSPI index is trading at 2605.72, up 1.53% from the previous day.
By investor type, institutions and foreigners are net buyers of 175.3 billion KRW and 420.9 billion KRW respectively, while individuals are net sellers of 588.8 billion KRW. In the futures market, foreigners are net buyers of 815.8 billion KRW, whereas institutions and individuals are net sellers of 382.2 billion KRW and 353.3 billion KRW respectively.
Most sectors are on the rise. The electrical and electronics sector is up 3.1%, transportation equipment 2.41%, manufacturing 2.01%, entertainment and culture 1.95%, securities 1.54%, distribution 1.09%, telecommunications 1.01%, medical precision 0.87%, finance 0.83%, metals 0.71%, paper and wood 0.78%, food, beverages and tobacco 0.53%, and textiles and apparel 0.74%. On the other hand, the construction sector is down 0.84%, machinery and equipment -0.72%, electricity and gas -0.45%, and chemicals -0.09%.
Most of the top market capitalization stocks are strong. Samsung Electronics surged 4.75%, SK Hynix 1.71%, LG Energy Solution 0.31%, Samsung Biologics 0.86%, Celltrion 0.7%, Hanwha Aerospace 6.67%, NAVER 0.96%, KB Financial Group 0.38%, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries 2.96%, and POSCO Holdings 1.31% are all rising. Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor and Kia are moving slightly down by 0.1% each.
The KOSDAQ index is also trading in a slightly positive range. The KOSDAQ index is up 0.33% from the previous day, trading at 736.78. By investor type, institutions and foreigners are net sellers of 17.6 billion KRW and 156.5 billion KRW respectively, while individuals are net buyers of 174.2 billion KRW.
Top market capitalization stocks show mixed movements. Alteogen is down 0.38%, EcoPro BM -0.98%, EcoPro -1.84%, Rainbow Robotics -0.63%, Kolon TissueGene -3.09%, Classys -1.31%, Rigachem Bio -0.39%, and Pharma Research -2.83% are weak. On the other hand, HLB is up 3.61%, Hugel 0.45%, and Rino Industrial 0.46% are rising.
