Gyeongbuk Office of Education Purchases 'Gait Rehabilitation Robot' to Help Students with Paraplegia... 100 Million Won Support for Gyeongsan Jain School
Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) announced on the 17th that it will implement the "Support Project for the Purchase of Gait Rehabilitation Robots for Students with Disabilities" to provide treatment opportunities for students with mobility difficulties and to improve the educational environment.
This project supports the purchase of customized gait rehabilitation robots for students with disabilities who have significant restrictions in school activities due to lower limb paralysis. A budget of 100 million KRW will be allocated to Gyeongsan Jain School, a special education school, to assist with walking support and rehabilitation therapy.
The gait rehabilitation robot is an advanced rehabilitation device developed based on artificial intelligence and robotics technology to improve the walking patterns of students with disabilities, help them regain muscle strength, and enhance their walking abilities. It enables personalized therapy tailored to each student's condition, increases walking accuracy, and provides optimal rehabilitation effects through continuous monitoring.
To introduce the gait rehabilitation robot, the Gyeongbuk Office of Education visited Daegu Seongbo School, which is currently operating the device, to analyze its operation and discuss implementation plans. Subsequently, a demand survey was conducted among special schools in the province, and Gyeongsan Jain School was finally selected. Consultations have been ongoing regarding the introduction and operation of the robot.
This project is expected to have a positive impact not only on the rehabilitation treatment of students with disabilities but also on their emotional stability. With easier movement within the school, high-quality educational opportunities are anticipated to expand.
A Gyeongbuk Office of Education official stated, "We plan to continuously expand this project so that more students with disabilities can benefit," and added, "We will closely analyze the effects of the gait rehabilitation robot and strengthen customized support to provide integrated assistance for the rehabilitation and education of students with disabilities."
Lim Jong-sik, Superintendent of Gyeongbuk Office of Education, said, "Through the introduction of gait rehabilitation robots, we will enable students with disabilities to receive more effective rehabilitation treatment," and added, "We will continue to provide various customized support measures so that students with disabilities can improve not only their rehabilitation treatment but also their education and quality of life."
