View original imageOn the 17th, Yongin City announced that SK Ecoplant, the construction company for the SK Hynix semiconductor factory, will source the ready-mix concrete materials needed for the basic construction from local companies.
This decision is a follow-up measure based on the 'Business Agreement for Early Commencement of SK Hynix Fab and Revitalization of the Local Construction Industry' signed by SK Hynix, SK Ecoplant, and Yongin City. According to the agreement, SK Ecoplant decided this through consultations with 11 local ready-mix concrete production and transportation companies.
The production of ready-mix concrete will be carried out by 'Yongin Remicon,' a special purpose company (SPC) established by local ready-mix concrete companies after SK Ecoplant built a ready-mix concrete production facility within the industrial complex. The companies will produce 8,000 tons of ready-mix concrete per day at this facility and supply it directly to the site. The licensing procedures for the production facility were completed on the 12th.
The city expects that the participation of local companies will create jobs and activate the local economy, establishing a virtuous economic cycle. In particular, producing and supplying materials on-site is expected to alleviate surrounding traffic congestion and improve construction efficiency.
The SK Hynix Yongin production line construction project involves investing approximately 122 trillion KRW to build four semiconductor factories on a 4.15 million square meter Yongin Semiconductor Cluster industrial complex. The first factory began construction last month and is scheduled to be operational by 2027. The construction is expected to involve a total workforce of 3 million people.
