Department of Electric Vehicle Engineering at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology Wins Excellent Paper Award at BB21plus Conference
The Department of Electric Vehicles at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President: Kim Youngdo) recently received the Outstanding Paper Award at the '2025 BB21plus Performance Report and Academic Conference' held at the City Hotel in Busan.
The BB21plus (Brain Busan 21 plus) project, which began in 2002, aims to strengthen the competitiveness of regional universities by fostering and supporting core university functions such as training research personnel and enhancing academic capabilities. The sixth phase of the project concluded in 2023. The seventh phase of BB21plus started in September 2023 with active support from Busan City, launching 12 project groups, and is now entering its second year.
The 2025 BB21plus Performance Report and Academic Conference, held on February 25, was an occasion to share the first-year achievements of the project with the 12 project groups and to present outstanding results. The performance report featured case presentations from three outstanding project groups, while the academic conference was conducted in two sessions with all 12 groups participating.
Kim Jongin, a student from the Department of Electric Vehicles, gave a presentation on the topic of 'A Study on Hands-Free Umbrella Caps on Buses on Rainy Days.' The study addressed the inconvenience of holding an umbrella in one hand and a handrail in the other while using public transportation on rainy days, as well as the discomfort caused when wet umbrellas touch other passengers. By presenting the idea of a hands-free umbrella, Kim received the Outstanding Paper Award.
Kim Manho, a supervising professor in the Department of Electric Vehicles, stated, "We are very grateful for the BB21plus project supported by Busan City, which provides scholarships to many students," and added, "We will continue to strive for even greater achievements so that we can maintain the highest level of employment quality."
