This year, 178 traffic safety guardians have been assigned to 73 elementary schools to help ensure the safe commute of first and second-grade students. The traffic safety guardians will escort 748 students, with additional personnel assigned to routes with a higher number of students.
Starting this year, the city office of education expects to reduce the burden on parents by operating the traffic safety guardians from the very beginning of the school year. Superintendent Lee Jungseon stated, "We will prioritize the safety of our students and spare no effort in providing practical support."
