Jeon Min-cheol to Appear in Universal Ballet's 'Giselle'... Tickets Sold Out in 3 Minutes
Tickets for the performances featuring ballerino Jeon Min-cheol, who is about to join the Russian Mariinsky Ballet, have been selling out continuously.
The Universal Ballet Company announced that tickets for the performances featuring Jeon Min-cheol in their upcoming April production of "Giselle" sold out within just three minutes of the reservation opening. Kim Yang-hyun, head of the Universal Ballet’s PR team, stated, "Last year, tickets for the performances featuring Jeon Min-cheol in 'La Bayadere' sold out in four minutes, but this time, tickets for 'Giselle' sold out in three minutes."
With news that Jeon Min-cheol is set to join the Mariinsky Ballet, one of the world’s top ballet companies that carries on the tradition of Russian ballet epitomized by Tchaikovsky’s music, public interest in him has exploded.
Last month on the 14th, Jeon Min-cheol also sold out the "Franz Liszt Night" performance held at Mapo Art Center. At that event, Jeon Min-cheol attracted attention by personally choreographing and performing a piece for the first time to the music of Hungarian composer Franz Liszt’s "Liebestr?ume."
Jeon Min-cheol is scheduled to join the Mariinsky Ballet in June.
The Universal Ballet’s "Giselle" will be performed 11 times from April 18 to 27, with Jeon Min-cheol taking the stage as the male lead Albrecht in the performance on April 20 at 6:30 PM. Principal dancer Hong Hyang-gi of the Universal Ballet will perform the role of Giselle alongside him.
"Giselle" is a representative romantic ballet that depicts the impossible love, betrayal, and transcendent love beyond the boundaries of life and death between Albrecht, a nobleman, and Giselle, a simple village girl.
