400 Local Government Officials Gathered in One Place for 'Youth Policy' Development
Ministry of Gender Equality and Family to Hold "2025 Local Government Youth Policy Officers Workshop" on June 25-26
Over 400 youth policy officials from 17 cities and provinces nationwide, as well as from city, county, and district local governments, will gather in one place to discuss this year's youth policy directions.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 25th that it will hold the "2025 Local Government Youth Policy Officers Joint Training" for one night and two days at Ramada by Wyndham Seoul Dongdaemun in Jung-gu, Seoul.
During the joint training, explanations, Q&A sessions, and discussions will be held on this year's major projects in various policy areas such as youth welfare, protection, and activities.
Regarding youth welfare, topics will include the establishment and operation of a social safety net for at-risk youth, protection and self-reliance support for out-of-home and out-of-school youth, and support for the daily recovery of isolated and reclusive youth. Youth protection policies will cover improvements to harmful environments such as harmful media, harmful establishments, and drugs, as well as support for healing youth with digital media overdependence and emotional and behavioral problems. On the 26th, after the joint training concludes, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will hold a meeting for officers in charge of the youth growth support project in population-declining areas, which is newly launched this year.
This year, the Ministry increased the self-reliance support allowance for out-of-home youth from 400,000 KRW to 500,000 KRW per month, and the support amount for menstrual products was raised from 13,000 KRW to 14,000 KRW per month. Additionally, the ministry established the "5th Comprehensive Youth Protection Plan (2025?2027)" to respond more systematically to various harmful environments surrounding youth, and is implementing the youth growth support project in population-declining areas in 11 local governments to ensure that youth are not marginalized depending on their region and environment.
