From April, Domestic iPhone Users Will Also Use 'Apple AI'... Korean Language Support Planned
Apple Intelligence to Support Korean on iPhone, iPad, and Mac
Available with iOS 18.4 Update in April
Apple Intelligence Coming Soon to Vision Pro
Starting this April, iPhone users in Korea are expected to be able to use Apple's artificial intelligence (AI) service, 'Apple Intelligence.'
On the 24th, Apple announced that Apple Intelligence will additionally support Korean, along with French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), and English (Singapore and India).
The newly supported languages will be available through the upcoming iOS (iPhone operating system) 18.4, iPadOS (iPad operating system) 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4, scheduled for release in April. Beta versions for developers have been available since the 22nd.
Apple Intelligence is Apple's generative AI service offering features such as a writing assistant to help with text composition, text summarization, image generation, and Genmoji, which creates emojis based on user preferences.
With this software update, Apple explained that iPhone and iPad users in Europe will also be able to use Apple Intelligence. Additionally, Apple Intelligence will be supported on the mixed reality (MR) device Apple Vision Pro around the same time. On Vision Pro, Apple Intelligence will initially support American English.
Currently, iPhones that support Apple Intelligence include the iPhone 16 series (16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max) and the iPhone 15 Pro series (15 Pro, 15 Pro Max), all of which are relatively recently released models. The iPhone 16e, unveiled on the 20th and set to be released on the 28th, will also support Apple Intelligence.
Apple Intelligence operates using an 'on-device' method, processing some AI computations directly on the smartphone. It is known that older models have limitations in on-device processing due to smaller RAM capacity.
