Ateco Selected as Supplier for 'SOCAMM Test Handler'
Semiconductor inspection equipment company Ateco (CEO Taekseon Lee) announced on the 21st that it has been selected as the supplier of the ‘SOCAMM Test Handler’.
Ateco is recognized as a developer of handlers capable of supporting all memory module form factors, including DIMM (Dual In-line Memory Module) and CAMM (Compression Attached Memory Module).
NVIDIA’s next-generation memory module, SOCAMM (System-on-Chip with Advanced Memory Module), is a technology that generally combines SOC (System on Chip) with an advanced memory module.
The biggest feature of SOCAMM is its superior power efficiency in terms of price and performance compared to conventional DRAM modules for small PCs and laptops. As a ‘detachable module,’ it is designed so that users can directly replace the memory to continuously enhance PC performance.
An industry insider stated, "If SOCAMM becomes the new standard targeting the future personal AI market, it will cause another paradigm shift in the memory semiconductor market, similar to the case of HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) in the past."
In particular, testing solutions are a crucial aspect in semiconductor processes to minimize defect rates.
The biggest feature of Ateco’s products is that they can be applied to both SOCAMM and LPCAMM, which are evaluated as next-generation memories, meaning that existing LPCAMM inspection equipment can be upgraded and used for the subsequent SOCAMM model.
Taekseon Lee, CEO of Ateco, said, “Ateco is the first in the world to develop and supply the SOCAMM test handler,” adding, “We will be able to gain an advantage in the rapidly growing SOCAMM test handler market.”
Meanwhile, Ateco is also developing an ‘HBM Die Test Handler’ applicable to HBM3E (5th generation High Bandwidth Memory) and HBM4 (6th generation High Bandwidth Memory), aiming for release in the second quarter of 2025.
