Samhwa Paint Obtains Patent for 'Heat-Reflective Paint' with Enhanced Solar Reflection
Enhancing Reflective Performance Beyond White Shades
Anticipated Reduction in Summer Energy Costs
Samhwa Paint Industrial announced on the 18th that it has obtained a patent for a "water-based heat-reflective coating composition with heat radiation cooling capability."
The patent is a technology for manufacturing paint using functional pigments with enhanced reflectance in the infrared spectrum and acrylic emulsion resin. Unlike existing exterior paint manufacturing technologies, this technology features high reflectance and high weather resistance, increasing solar reflectance by using highly reflective ceramic pigments.
Existing heat-reflective paints were limited to white shades and thus were only used on roofs or rooftops, requiring a multi-layer system method, which limited their widespread use. However, this patent allows for the use of various colors, enabling application not only on rooftops but also on the exterior of buildings, and it can be applied as a single coating.
The reason Samhwa Paint has pursued the development of heat-reflective paint technology is due to the increasing demand for heat-reflective paints as energy costs rise amid climate change. Heat-reflective paint reflects the infrared rays of sunlight to prevent surface temperature rise and blocks heat transfer into the interior of buildings, minimizing energy costs.
