Seoul City Enters Snow Removal Emergency Level 1... Urges "Use Public Transportation"
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will activate Snow Removal Emergency Duty Level 1 from 10 PM on the 11th to prepare for snowfall.
The city plans to deploy 5,295 personnel and 1,116 snow removal vehicles to spread de-icing agents before snow falls in Seoul, based on snowfall signs detected through closed-circuit (CC) CCTV installed along the snowfall movement path in the West Sea region. The operation status of automatic snow removal equipment will also be checked.
Additionally, to minimize commuting inconveniences caused by snowfall, heated wires and automatic brine spraying devices will be operated in sections vulnerable to icing. Patrols will be intensified at underground road entrances and exits, as well as steep slopes where icing accidents frequently occur, and de-icing agents will be applied.
Han Byung-yong, Director of the Seoul Disaster and Safety Office, urged, "Due to low temperatures at dawn, there may be icy road sections, so for safety, please refrain from driving if possible and use public transportation."
