Strengthening Local-Based Parental Support for Childcare
Gyeonggi Yangju City (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 15th that the ‘Yangju City Childcare Comprehensive Support Center (Director Kim Kwang-i)’ has successfully carried out the ‘2024 Childcare Break Project’ for the second consecutive year and received the ‘Minister of Education Award.’
The ‘Childcare Break Project,’ organized by the Korea Childcare Promotion Institute, designates hub-type daycare centers in areas far from comprehensive childcare support centers to provide parenting support services such as parent education and experiential programs.
The ‘Yangju City Childcare Comprehensive Support Center’ designated six local hub-type daycare centers from May to October last year and conducted ‘parent-child experiences’ including book play, forest experiences, and infant play.
Furthermore, it provided education and healing programs for parents, such as child temperament and parenting methods, relieving parenting stress, and father education, gaining great response from parents and earning the honor of receiving the ‘Minister of Education Award.’
In addition, the six hub-type daycare centers that participated in the project together with the ‘Yangju City Childcare Comprehensive Support Center’ are also reported to have received the ‘Minister of Education Award’ together.
