Yongsan-gu to Issue 15.3 Billion KRW Worth of Yongsan Love Gift Certificates Starting from the 16th
10% Discount Sale on Itaewon Commercial District Recovery Gift Certificates
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) will issue Yongsan Love Gift Certificates and Itaewon Commercial District Recovery Gift Certificates worth a total of 15.3 billion KRW to revitalize the local economy for the Lunar New Year holiday.
The district will issue 10 billion KRW worth of Yongsan Love Gift Certificates fully funded by the district starting at 10 a.m. on the 16th. Individuals can purchase them at a 5% discount up to 500,000 KRW per month, with a maximum holding limit of 1.5 million KRW. The certificates can be used like cash at approximately 7,500 affiliated stores within Yongsan-gu, and they are valid for five years.
Additionally, 5.3 billion KRW worth of Itaewon Commercial District Recovery Gift Certificates will be issued starting at 10 a.m. on the 20th. These certificates can be purchased at a 10% discount up to 700,000 KRW per month per person, with a maximum holding limit of 1.5 million KRW. The validity period is one year.
The Itaewon Commercial District Recovery Gift Certificates can be freely used at about 2,500 affiliated stores located in six administrative neighborhoods: Yongsan 2-ga-dong (Haebangchon), Itaewon 1-dong (Itaewon Tourist Special Zone, etc.), Itaewon 2-dong (Gyeongridan-gil), Hannam-dong (Cafe Street, etc.), Seobinggo-dong, and Bogwang-dong. Affiliated stores can be checked through the 'Find Stores' feature on the Seoul PAY Plus (SeoulPAY+) app.
However, the use of Itaewon Commercial District Recovery Gift Certificates is restricted at affiliated stores with annual sales exceeding 3 billion KRW. This follows the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s 'Comprehensive Guidelines for Local Love Gift Certificate Issuance Support Projects.'
Both the Yongsan Love Gift Certificates and Itaewon Commercial District Recovery Gift Certificates can be purchased via the Seoul PAY Plus app, and full cancellations are possible if unused after purchase. For purchases made with cash (bank transfer), refunds of the remaining balance are available after using at least 60%, while gift certificates purchased with credit cards cannot be refunded or gifted.
