Prosecutors Seize Kim Yong-hyun's Mobile Phone... Focus on Securing Physical Evidence of Yoon's Orders
The prosecution investigating the 'December 3 Emergency Martial Law Incident' has secured the mobile phone of former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, who is accused of major duties related to insurrection, through seizure.
According to the legal community on the 28th, the Special Investigation Headquarters for Emergency Martial Law under the prosecution obtained a search warrant for Kim's mobile phone and executed the warrant on the 26th, seizing the phone.
The prosecution has scheduled a forensic selection process for Kim's mobile phone on the 30th and has notified Kim's side to observe the procedure.
Previously, when Kim voluntarily appeared at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office for questioning on the 8th, the prosecution had obtained his mobile phone through voluntary submission. However, the prosecution's related procedures were halted after Kim's side claimed that the prosecution attempted to collect evidence illegally. Consequently, the prosecution returned the phone to Kim and then re-secured it through a warrant.
The prosecution is expected to attempt to secure physical evidence from the mobile phone that can support the testimonies previously given by the martial law commanders.
