Pohang City announced that the '2024 Korea Low Birthrate Overcoming Expo Family Festa,' held over two days on the 24th and 25th at Pohang Manindang, was successfully concluded.
This expo, hosted by Pohang City and Gyeongbuk Province and organized by YTN, was designed to discuss solutions to the low birthrate issue and improve awareness about families.
The expo was structured to provide information all in one place, from marriage to childbirth, childcare, and education, attracting around 15,000 visitors, including family units, drawing significant attention.
Many wedding-related companies participated in the expo to offer consultations, while central government ministries and local governments directly took part to share support policies regarding pregnancy, childbirth, and infertility.
Numerous public institutions participated, including Pohang City, Gyeongbuk Province, Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education, Daegu University Infertility Center, Pohang Southern Fire Station, Korea Healthy Family Promotion Agency, and Pohang Women's Human Resources Development Center. The event also featured marriage and childcare experience booths, the Science Magic Show by the Bread Doctor, a children's performance by Carry and Friends, and a lecture by Dr. Ha Jung-hoon, a pediatrician from 119 Emergency.
Additionally, on-site events such as the Solo Battle for young couples and a family talent show for families to enjoy together were held.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, “I hope that the policies and practical ideas introduced at this expo, prepared to overcome the low birthrate, will provide tangible help in addressing the issue. We will continue to do our best to make Pohang a city with excellent childcare and care services.”
