SBS Entertainment and Drama to Be Available on Netflix... Both Companies Form Strategic Partnership
Support for Global Expansion of K-Content
Online video service (OTT) Netflix and terrestrial broadcaster SBS have joined hands to enhance the competitiveness of K-content and expand overseas.

View original imageNetflix and SBS announced on the 20th that they signed a strategic partnership at the SBS Broadcasting Center in Mokdong, Seoul. The signing ceremony was attended by Bang Sun-shin, President of SBS, and Kang Dong-han, Vice President of Netflix Korea Content Division, among others. This partnership is a strategic move to create a win-win synergy for both companies. SBS aims to promote the global expansion of its content, while Netflix intends to provide subscribers with diverse experiences.
The partnership between Netflix and SBS includes ▲providing SBS’s new and existing dramas, variety shows, and educational programs to Netflix members in Korea ▲simultaneously releasing some of SBS’s new dramas worldwide.
Starting next year, Netflix will offer SBS’s variety and educational programs such as 'Running Man,' 'Unanswered Questions,' 'The Day the Tail Was Chased,' and 'Kick a Goal,' as well as past popular representative works like 'Sandglass,' 'Stove League,' and 'Penthouse.'
Both companies will also simultaneously release some of SBS’s new dramas worldwide in the second half of next year. Netflix plans to contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of K-content by producing subtitles and dubbing in various languages for these works, as well as conducting local promotion and marketing activities.
Vice President Kang said, "The cooperation between SBS and Netflix will be a new milestone in showcasing the excellence of Korean-style storytelling to the world," adding, "I hope this will create a new golden age of K-content that will continue for more than 100 years."

President Bang explained, "This partnership will create new opportunities for both SBS and Netflix," and added, "In particular, this agreement will help increase viewer touchpoints."
