Operation of Gyeonggi-do's First Intercity Hydrogen Bus from Icheon to Jamsil
5 Vehicles Deployed on G2110 Route
Hydrogen buses have started operating on the intercity bus route between Icheon City and Jamsil, Seoul, marking the first such service in Gyeonggi Province.
On the 12th, Icheon City announced that five hydrogen buses were deployed on the G2110 intercity bus route between Icheon and Jamsil starting the previous day. The hydrogen buses were procured with a 260 million KRW subsidy from the Ministry of Environment and an additional 90 million KRW from the city budget. The city plans to initially replace five of the ten existing compressed natural gas (CNG) buses and gradually increase the number of hydrogen buses in operation.
Hydrogen buses are zero-emission vehicles that do not emit air pollutants. Compared to electric buses, they have a longer driving range and shorter refueling time, making them suitable for intercity routes with relatively long distances.
Hydrogen bus refueling is carried out at the Daeheung Liquefied Hydrogen Refueling Station installed in Icheon City. This station is equipped with facilities capable of refueling 120 kg of hydrogen per hour. It has the capacity to refuel six buses per hour, approximately 120 hydrogen buses per day.
Earlier, in September, the city increased the operation frequency of the G2100 bus route by two trips each on weekdays and Saturdays, and six trips each on Sundays and holidays, when congestion is highest, to improve convenience for citizens using intercity transportation.
