"One-Stop Large Waste Disposal and Payment"… Yangcheon-gu Introduces Smart Management System
Yangcheon-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) has established a ‘Large Waste Smart Management System’ and will conduct a pilot operation this month, followed by full-scale operation starting January next year.
Previously, disposing of large waste required either phone registration or online application followed by printing a disposal permit to attach to the waste, which was inconvenient. However, from now on, by searching ‘Yangcheon-gu Large Waste’ on internet portals or accessing the ‘Large Waste Disposal’ link on the Yangcheon-gu Office website, users can complete the entire process from application to payment for large waste disposal through a simple procedure.

In particular, the system provides a ‘real-time notification service’ via AlimTalk to inform users of receipt confirmation and collection completion status after reporting, improving the inconvenience of having to check manually. Various payment methods such as credit cards, virtual accounts, and Kakao Pay have been introduced to enhance convenience. Users can also apply for cancellations and refunds after payment, including partial cancellations.
Disposal no longer requires printing a separate disposal permit. Users simply upload information and photos to the system and write the permit number on the waste, then place it at the designated location the day before collection. Additionally, the system provides easy access to other waste disposal information such as locations of waste fluorescent lamp and battery collection boxes, special sack sales points, used clothing collection boxes, volume-based waste bag prices, and free home collection services for discarded electronics.
The district has improved not only the convenience of large waste disposal but also the efficiency of collection processing. A dedicated app for collectors (waste collection contractors) has been developed, linking disposal reports immediately to a real-time map (navigation), enabling collectors to perform swift and accurate collection.
