KOSPI Ends Slightly Lower Amid Selling by Individuals and Foreigners... KOSDAQ Also Declines
The KOSPI closed slightly lower due to selling pressure from individual and foreign investors. The KOSDAQ also ended the day down.
On the 2nd, the KOSPI closed at 2,454.48, down 1.43 points (0.06%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, individuals and foreigners were net sellers of 319.7 billion KRW and 133.1 billion KRW respectively. Meanwhile, institutions were net buyers of 391.5 billion KRW.
By sector, Steel & Metals surged 7.20%. Additionally, Services, Finance, and Food & Beverages recorded slight gains. Conversely, Textiles & Apparel fell 2.96%. Other sectors such as Electric & Gas, Machinery, Transportation & Warehousing, and Medical Precision declined by more than 1%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics closed at 53,600 KRW, down 600 KRW (1.11%) from the previous trading day. Hyundai Motor, NAVER, and Celltrion fell more than 1%. On the other hand, Korea Zinc surged 19.58%. LG Energy Solution and Hyundai Mobis also rose more than 2%.
On this day in the KOSPI, three stocks including Hyosung Chemical, Kumho Construction Preferred, and Dongbu Construction Preferred hit the upper price limit, with 217 stocks rising. Meanwhile, 678 stocks declined without any hitting the lower price limit. Forty-three stocks ended unchanged.
The KOSDAQ closed at 675.84, down 2.35 points (0.35%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, individuals were net sellers of 176 billion KRW. In contrast, foreigners and institutions were net buyers of 124.1 billion KRW and 67.6 billion KRW respectively.
By sector, Other Services rose 1.64%. Conversely, Textiles & Apparel dropped 3.18%. Machinery & Equipment declined 2.12%. Other sectors such as Non-metallic, Metals, and Transportation Equipment & Parts closed down more than 1%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Alteogen closed at 302,000 KRW, up 22,000 KRW (7.86%) from the previous trading day. Enchem surged 12.42%. Conversely, Rainbow Robotics fell 5.60%. Hugel declined 1.73%. EcoPro, HLB, and Celltrion Pharm also closed slightly lower.
