Gwangju Shinsegae Eye Clinic SMILE LASIK Achieves 80,000 Surgeries
Gwangju Shinsegae Eye Clinic (Chief Director Kim Jaebong) announced on the 29th that it has achieved 80,000 cases of SMILE LASIK.
Gwangju Shinsegae Eye Clinic reached this milestone just six months after being certified for 70,000 cases earlier this year, an exceptional achievement.
SMILE LASIK is a vision correction surgery that combines the advantages of traditional LASIK and LASEK. It uses a laser that operates at one-trillionth of a second intervals to remove corneal stroma by about 1 to 2 mm through a micro-incision, correcting the vision accordingly.
In particular, the surgery requires a precise procedure where the medical staff directly extracts the corneal stroma, making the expertise of a skilled surgeon critically important.
Chief Director Kim Jaebong was awarded the ‘Leading SMILE Center’ plaque and the ‘Best Skilled Surgeon in SMILE’ award in 2019 at the Zeiss headquarters in Germany, the first nationwide to receive these honors.
