Almek Global Joint Venture AR Aluminum Stabilizes Yield of Next-Generation Casting Plant... Focuses on Low-Carbon Research
Almek (CEO Shin Sang-ho), a global automotive aluminum parts specialist, announced on the 25th that its subsidiary AR Aluminum's Sacheon casting plant has entered the stabilization phase for next-generation global material and parts production.
According to Almek, in May 2022, they signed a large-scale investment agreement with Sacheon City to secure billet raw materials used in the main extrusion process at a quality and productivity level comparable to global leaders, and proceeded with casting equipment investment.
An Almek official stated, "The Sacheon casting plant, which began trial operations in April, is showing rapid progress by entering the stabilization phase from October, currently focusing on improving profitability," adding, "Just as the Almek Korea extrusion plant in Miryang doubled its sales growth through stabilization in 2022, the swift stabilization of the Sacheon casting plant can directly lead to increased sales and improved profitability."
In fact, AR Aluminum's Sacheon casting plant is estimated to achieve a monthly production volume of 4,000 tons and sales of 150 billion KRW next year.
Almek and AR Aluminum have secured a large-scale government low-carbon project (22.5 billion KRW) this year and are leading research on 'domestic low-carbon aluminum.'
Starting in 2025, they will invest in an aluminum recycling process at the Sacheon plant, covering everything from crushing to raw material recycling, and from 2026, they plan to begin full-scale production and sales of 'low-carbon aluminum.'

Almek stated, "By applying a system that recycles aluminum scrap, we have gained additional cost competitiveness and a price premium through eco-friendly processes, enabling us to overcome regulations such as the carbon border tax," and added, "We will create an opportunity for another leap forward through the new low-carbon aluminum business and the rapid stabilization of the casting plant."
