Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 21st that it has launched a comprehensive maintenance of the ‘Green Food Zone’ designation signs to create a safe food sales environment around schools.

View original imageThe Green Food Zone refers to an area within a straight-line distance of 200 meters from the boundary of a school and the school itself. Additionally, the signs are required to be installed around school gates such as the main and back entrances, focusing on the routes mainly used by students for commuting.
Currently, Goyang City designates and manages ‘Green Food Zones’ for 177 schools across 133 zones.
Through the comprehensive maintenance project, the city plans to conduct a full survey and maintenance of all signs simultaneously. In particular, for two newly designated schools due to their opening (Jihyo Elementary School and TLBY Global School), new signs will be produced and installed. For 50 schools where existing signs have been lost or damaged, replacement signs will be installed.

A Goyang Special City official stated, “We hope that the comprehensive maintenance of the Green Food Zone signs will help citizens passing through these areas recognize the food safety protection zones. We will continue to do our best to maintain an environment where safe food can be distributed and sold for the healthy growth of children.”
