Bitcoin Price Surpasses $90,000 for the First Time Ever Briefly
The price of Bitcoin, the leading cryptocurrency, soared with the re-election of Donald Trump as U.S. president, surpassing $90,000 for the first time in history.
According to Coin Metrics on the 12th (local time), the price of Bitcoin briefly exceeded $90,000 just before 4 p.m. Eastern Time. It is currently trading around the $88,000 level.
On the morning of the U.S. presidential election day, the 5th, Bitcoin's price was below $70,000, but it has been breaking record highs daily due to Trump's re-election.
During the election campaign, Trump emphasized a pro-cryptocurrency stance. At the "Bitcoin 2024 Conference" held in Nashville, Tennessee, last July, he promised, "I will make the United States the cryptocurrency capital of the world and a Bitcoin superpower," adding, "I will be a pro-Bitcoin president who actively fosters the cryptocurrency industry."
