Solus Advanced Materials announced on the 29th that it has recently completed preparations for mass production at its second plant in Hungary and has begun full-scale production.
The production capacity (Capa) of the second plant in Hungary is 23,000 tons per year. With this, Solus Advanced Materials will have a total annual production capacity of 38,000 tons in Europe, adding to the existing 15,000 tons from the first plant. In the long term, the company aims to establish a total production capacity of 100,000 tons with the third plant in Hungary. The third plant will be built in line with the increasing demand for electric vehicle batteries.
The Hungarian battery copper foil production plant is located in the Tatab?nya industrial complex. As the only battery copper foil production base in Europe, it secures delivery competitiveness and reliably supplies customized battery copper foil tailored to each customer, including high-end products. Due to these differentiators, it has proven its quality to domestic and international battery manufacturers and automakers, signing long-term supply contracts with various customers and maintaining the number one market share of battery copper foil in Europe.
Following Europe, Solus Advanced Materials is also accelerating the establishment of a production base in North America. The first battery copper foil plant in Canada, which began construction last year, is progressing smoothly after securing incentives worth 150 billion KRW from the Quebec provincial government. It plans to start mass production in 2026 with an annual capacity of 25,000 tons, and in the long term, it will have a total production capacity of 63,000 tons. With this, Solus Advanced Materials is expected to establish a total battery copper foil production system of 163,000 tons annually across Europe and North America.
