Large-Scale Rally in Downtown Seoul on Sunday... Traffic Congestion Expected
Police "Request to Use Public Transportation Whenever Possible"
On Sunday the 27th, large-scale Protestant gatherings will be held in various parts of downtown Seoul, causing expected traffic congestion.
On the 25th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that large-scale rallies attended by tens of thousands of people will take place around Sejong-daero, Eulji-ro, Yeouidaero, and other areas, anticipating some road traffic congestion.
The rally organized by the Protestant group Korea Church Union will be held on 12 sections across 7 roads including Sejong-daero, and in the Yeouido area on 5 sections across 4 roads including Yeouidaero.
The police will operate reversible lanes on Sejong-daero, Yulgok-ro, Sajik-ro, Seosomun-ro, Eulji-ro, and Yeouidaero, and will minimize traffic volume in the Sinwol and Yeoui underground tunnels. Roads where the rally stages are set up will be closed to traffic from midnight on the 27th.
To minimize inconvenience to citizens caused by traffic congestion, the police plan to deploy about 200 traffic officers around the rally sites to manage vehicle flow and direct detours.
