Dongseo University Game Department - Busan Police Agency Develop 'Youth Gambling Prevention Game'
Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) has partnered with the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency to develop a game aimed at preventing youth gambling, drawing significant attention.
Youth gambling stimulates teenagers' curiosity and allows them to start with small amounts, leading them unknowingly to addiction levels.
Once addicted, they may provide personal information to secure gambling funds, inducing loans, and it is understood that this can sometimes lead to violence within schools.
In response, the Game Planning Forum (advised by Professor Yoon Sun-jung) and the Game Programming Research Association (advised by Professor Joo Woo-seok) of Dongseo University's Department of Game Studies developed the "Youth Gambling Prevention Game" at the request of the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency.
Currently, this game is being used for education on the Busan Police Agency’s "youthgamblingprevention.com" website. It is designed so that participating youths can never win at gambling, and it serves as an educational game that helps them recognize the risks and damages of gambling.
The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency awarded scholarships to the students involved in the game development (An Mi-jung and four others). An Mi-jung said, "I feel a sense of accomplishment developing a game that benefits society through each student's individual development capabilities."
