Pocheon City Successfully Hosts the 3rd Reading Club Event 'Neighborhood Book Day'
Baek Young-hyun, mayor of Pocheon, attended the "3rd Neighborhood Book Day" event held at the Pocheon City Hall Citizen Square on the 19th and delivered a congratulatory speech.
Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 21st that it held the 3rd Neighborhood Book Day event at the Pocheon City Hall Citizen Square on the 19th.
The event was divided into two parts: Part 1 featured a reading club anthology publication ceremony and a lecture by poet Park Jun, and Part 2 featured a book concert by Harim.
In Part 1, the publication of the anthology "Reading While Writing," which collected writings from reading club members, was celebrated.
Additionally, reading club members took the stage to host various activities including performances and readings of works from the anthology.
Following this, poet Park Jun gave a lecture commemorating the anthology publication. Park Jun prepared a test sheet on the theory of empathy, engaging the participants actively.
Moreover, various experiences and entertainment were provided, such as caricatures and digital drawings, decorating storage hangers, making calligraphy bookmarks, photo zones, and book exhibitions.
In Part 2, under the moderation of Yoon Hye-rin, president of the Pocheon Book Club Network, a book concert by singer and picture book author Harim was held.
Harim shared with the audience the story behind the song "Love Is Forgotten as Another Love" and the picture book "We All Work for the People We Love."
They also sang together the song "We All Work for the People We Love," discussing the power of music and solidarity of the heart.
A member of a reading club said, "It felt like reading books together in the square. It was an emotional time, like receiving a wonderful gift on an autumn day."
Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, "I thank Yoon Hye-rin, president of the reading club federation, and all members who worked hard to prepare the event for the creation of a 'humanities city where my life becomes culture.' Congratulations on the publication of the reading club members' anthology." He added, "Pocheon City will continue to support and encourage reading club activities to build a dignified humanities city."

Meanwhile, Pocheon City is promoting various projects to revitalize reading clubs, including book box lending, support for reading club activities, dispatching 'Book Insiders,' providing meeting spaces, and activity funding support projects.
