[Featured Stock] LabGenomics, WHO M-Fox 'Pandemic Warning'... Diagnostic Kits Spotlighted↑
LabGenomics is showing strong performance. This is interpreted as being influenced by the World Health Organization (WHO) warning that MPOX (formerly known as monkeypox) could lead to a pandemic.
As of 10:10 AM on the 18th, LabGenomics is trading at 3,745 KRW, up 12.97% compared to the previous day.
According to the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on the previous day, the number of MPOX deaths on the African continent this year has reached 1,100, including 50 additional deaths reported in the past week. During the same period, there were 42,438 suspected MPOX cases reported in Africa, of which 8,113 were confirmed.
MPOX is an acute febrile rash illness caused by a viral infection. When it spread in May 2022 across the Americas and Europe, WHO declared it a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), the highest level of health alert, but lifted the declaration in May last year as the spread subsided.
However, this year, a new variant with a relatively high fatality rate and rapid transmission speed, the Clade 1b subtype of MPOX, has been spreading mainly in Africa. As a result, WHO re-declared the PHEIC on August 14, one year and three months after lifting it.
