30s Female Academy Director Who Had Sexual Relations Twice with Minor Male Student Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison
39-Year-Old Female Academy Director Indicted for Violating Juvenile Protection Act
Engaged in Sexual Relations with Minor Student at Home and Hotel
A woman in her 30s who had sexual relations with a male middle school student attending the academy (private tutoring center) she operated was sentenced to a heavy prison term. She was sentenced to 5 years in prison for violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse, along with 40 hours of sexual violence and child abuse treatment programs, and a 7-year employment restriction at institutions related to children, juveniles, and persons with disabilities.
The Criminal Division 1 of Cheonan Branch of Daejeon District Court (Presiding Judge Jeon Gyeong-ho) handed down this sentence to Ms. A (female, 39), who was indicted without detention for having sexual relations with a minor student. Ms. A operated a private tutoring center in an apartment commercial area in Seobuk-gu, Cheonan. She was tried on charges of dating student B (then 14 years old) since 2022 and having sexual relations twice at her home and a hotel.
Despite receiving a restraining order from the police, Ms. A posted messages on social media expressing "I miss you," and also inquired about the well-being of B's older brother, who was also her student.

The court stated, "The defendant's guilt is serious as she not only failed to protect the victim from the risk of sexual crimes and sexual abuse, and the obligation to report if aware of the victimization, but rather treated the victim as a sexual object." It added, "It is difficult to gauge the mental damage suffered by the victim, and it is expected to have a negative impact on their life." Furthermore, the court noted, "The defendant showed obsessive behavior toward the victim, which aggravated the mental suffering of the victim's family," and "Since the victim and their family repeatedly petitioned for severe punishment, a long-term prison sentence is inevitable."
